Last night at the annual Franschhoek AGP Awards the Mercator Chardonnay 2013 as well as the Môreson Straw Wine 2013received AGP status!
The Franschhoek AGP is the: ‘Appellation Grand Prestige’, which represents the foundation of a cultivar driven identity within the Franschhoek Wine Valley that promotes prestigious wines. "Our aim is to recognise Franschhoek wines, based on the principles of provenance, for wine styles that typify quality wine production in the valley." The 2015 blind tasting was held at Boekenhoutskloof and the five highly-esteemed judges undertook the task of evaluating the 92 wines. from 27 producers were judged by an independent panel of five, the top 10 becoming the second batch ever to carry the AGP designation
